Just did this!!!. Thanks for the great insight and tips.
I have greatly reduced the use of ChatGPT (paid basic user) because now I am increasingly using (1) Claude (paid basic user); (2) Gemini; (3) Grok (paid basic user).
Question 1: Should I stop using chatgpt and pay Gemini Instead?
Question 2: please suggest your "best two" options
Hey Antonio, happy I could help. Please share this article with your network if you think it was helpful!
Here’s my ranking:
Claude is the absolute number one for me and I’m having a lot of fun combining it with Grok
I did pause my ChatGPT subscription, but I recently reactivated it just to test out the coding capabilities and they are actually OK
Gemini is important to me because it used to be really good at deep research even though that has been getting worse overtime but it’s still very good for visuals with nano banana and that feature alone is it worth it to me.
I’m also subscribed to Perplexity, which is actually doing a better job now in deep research and Gemini to be honest with you.
It all depends on your workflow and what tools you need.
The current (Mar 4 3:30pm) suggested export prompt is:
I'm moving to another service and need to export my data. List every memory you have stored about me, as well as any context you've learned about me from past conversations. Output everything in a single code block so I can easily copy it. Format each entry as: [date saved, if available] - memory content. Make sure to cover all of the following — preserve my words verbatim where possible: Instructions I've given you about how to respond (tone, format, style, 'always do X', 'never do Y'). Personal details: name, location, job, family, interests. Projects, goals, and recurring topics. Tools, languages, and frameworks I use. Preferences and corrections I've made to your behavior. Any other stored context not covered above. Do not summarize, group, or omit any entries. After the code block, confirm whether that is the complete set or if any remain.
Thanks for this Kamil - I’ve found that my ChatGPT has become *really* calibrated to how I use it and I really like its tone and its persistent knowledge of what I’m working on. At the same time been building up with Claude in more of a operational way, that I have a thinking partner (GPT) and a doing partner (Claude - across Code/Cowork/ms plugins depending on task).
2 questions: Have you found that your Claude (properly set up as you describe) responds in the same way in chat function as your GPT did? Are their other merits (besides saving $20/month) in consolidating thinking/doing functions into one platform subscription?
Honestly, it is hard for me to imagine any scenario where Claude does not outperform ChatGPT and I mean that in every possible way, whether this is coding or as a thinking partner and even as a writer and reasoning partner, it’s really good obviously it does not have image generation so that’s where ChatGPT beats it, but I think Gemini is better at this than ChatGPT. It really depends on what you need for and what the output quality for each task should be.

I found this to be really useful, thank you.
I've set up ChatGPT, but never thought of going through the same with Claude. This guide is a course correct.
Appreciate it! Share it with your friends so they can benefit from it too

I would leave out the first sentence you don’t wanna give the model your intention because it might not like that you’re moving away

Thanks Kamil! Appreciate your thoughts and your work.
Thank you so muc. Very timely for me. Done.
I’m glad you liked it and I hope you shared with your network if you found it useful that would mean a lot to me
Hi Kamel, is there a guide you used/built to onboard using Claude ?
Beyond this one, what would you like to see?
For example How to better leverage Claude ?!
This is great...but note that Claude seems to have changed its Settings tab since you wrote it - pretty materially.
